Air Duct Cleaning, Dryer Vent Cleaning and Chimney Sweeps, Nanaimo:

Neil and I had the opportunity to participate in our first home show this weekend. We had such a great time!

It was so nice to be able to showcase our services, explain our process in detail and to meet some really wonderful people.

We’re very excited to participate in the Victoria Home & Renovation Show at Pearkes Arena next month and then at the Cowichan Home Expo in April.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by to chat and book with us!

Chimney Sweeps Victoria, Duncan and Nanaimo:

Here is a good before and after photo of a chimney we recently cleaned. It is amazing how quickly soot and creosote can build up in a chimney.

We generally recommend having your chimney professionally swept at least once a year. More often if you are using it to heat your home.

Neglected chimneys can lead to costly repairs or worse, house fires!

Chimney Sweeps Victoria, Duncan and Nanaimo:

How many chimney sweeps do you know who carry full fall protection for those extra tricky roofs?

Here is a photo of Neil, scaling a very tall, very steep roof, in the pouring rain. As his wife, this made me a little uneasy watching! I am very thankful that he takes all of the precautions to ensure the highest level of safety when he is working.

The majority of our sweeps are done from inside but Neil does check the cap to make sure it is clean and clear of any debris.

Furnace and Air Duct Cleaning Victoria, Duncan and Nanaimo:

Another good before and after photo of some air ducts we cleaned.

Most people do not realize how much dust is sitting inside their air ducts.

Think about it this way; your furnace and ducts are the lungs of your home. Imagine if your lungs looked like this. You sure would be happier and breathing much better after a good clean!

Furnace and Air Duct Cleaning Victoria, Duncan and Nanaimo:

Here is a good before and after photo of a basic air duct cleaning we performed.

It is hard to really know how dirty your air ducts are. We usually recommend having them professionally cleaned every 2 or 3 years to keep the build-up of dust and allergens down. For those who suffer from allergies, you may want to have them cleaned more often.

Furnace and Air Duct Cleaning:

This is a very good indication that your furnace and air ducts are in need of a good cleaning.

If you can see build-up of dust and allergens on the vent covers, on the surrounding walls/floors/ceiling, just imagine how much is sitting inside your air ducts.

We recommend having your furnace and air ducts cleaned every 2 years, as part of your regular home maintenance routine.

Commercial Furnace and Air Duct Cleaning, Victoria:

Today we cleaned the roof top unit and air ducts for a dental office in Victoria.

Our Hypervac 220 has so much power! Even leaving it on the ground and running the hose up to the roof gave us more than enough suction! We are constantly impressed with this portable vacuum.

Furnace and Air Duct Cleaning, Nanaimo:

Take a good look at these before and after photos of some air ducts that we recently cleaned. Those dust bunnies are alive!

Most homeowners have no idea how dirty their air ducts are because they are not clearly visible.

When turning on your furnace or air conditioning, dust that is sitting in your duct work will be stirred up and blown back into your home.

Think of it this way; your air handling system is the lungs of your home. What it breathes in, you breathe in. This is why it is so important to have your system cleaned by a professional. We generally recommend having this done every 2 years.

Chimney Sweeps:

How frequently do you have your chimney swept by a professional?

Many things can factor in to build-up of creosote in your chimney. Burning wood that has anything more than 20% moisture in it will cause glazed creosote to build quickly.

If you use your fireplace or wood burning appliance to heat your home, we recommend having a sweep done at least twice per year. If you burn once in a while, once per year will usually suffice.

Don’t let this happen to your chimney! The more build-up that happens, the harder it is to clean and the more damage it can cause to your fireplace and chimney.

Has it been more than 2 years since you last had your Furnace and Air Ducts cleaned? Do you know what is lurking in your ducts?

The average home accumulates 40 LBS of dust per year! Think of how much of that can settle in your ducts and furnace! Gross!

The amount of dust, debris and allergens that can collect in your ducts are amazing! Even brand new or newly renovated homes need their ducts cleaned. It is very common to have a lot of post construction debris left in the ducts.

Remember, your furnace and air ducts are the lungs of your home. They should be well maintained and kept clean.

We can’t stress enough, how important it is to have your dryer vent cleaned on a regular basis.

Generally we recommend having this cleaned every 2 years if the vent is short. If the vent is long/has elbows, we recommend having it cleaned yearly.

Dryer vents in strata units are usually cleaned every year.

Don’t let your home be in the news because of a dryer fire that could have been preventable!

Take a look at these before and after photos of an air duct.

So many people do not know what is lurking in their duct work and furnace.

Having your air duct cleaning done as part of your regular home maintenance will makes a big difference in the air quality in your home.

Today we completed air duct cleaning of a huge house (over 5000 square feet). When a house has multiple main ducts we always split your system into “cleaning zones” to ensure maximum suction from our vacuum on each zone. It may take longer, but we do not believe in taking shortcuts and we are not satisfied until your air ducts are completely clean!

Seen here in the picture is Owner/Operator Neil Ballard inserting a piece of foam into the ducts to “zone it off”.

Commercial Air Duct Cleaning.

Neil and Stephanie had the opportunity to clean two roof-top systems, along with all of the duct work for an optometry clinic in beautiful Parksville, BC.

Our HyperVac Hybrid 220V vacuum was up to the task! The suction on this building was fantastic!

Here you can see the HyperVac hooked up to the supply truck line on the ground level of the building.

Dryer vent cleaning.

These customers were having issues with their dryer not drying clothes properly. They said that they would have to turn it on twice for the clothes to dry properly. A lot of times, this is due to too much lint being in the vent.

When we started the job, there was very minimal airflow coming out of the vent. By the end, the airflow had at least tripled!

It is incredible how much lint goes past the lint trip in the dryer. This vent has two 90 degree turns in the wall. With vents like these, lint tends to build up more as it is a lot for one dryer to be pushing all of that to the outside.

I’m so glad they called us to clean their dryer vent before anything worse happened!

Our first donation!

After a busy first 4 months in business we are pleased to make our first Hero Fund donation. We recently dropped off a whole bunch of art supplies to the Cowichan Valley Youth Services Society.

We hope the youth can enjoy these art supplies and continue to grow and inspire their imaginations.

We would like to thank all of our customers, family and friends for the overwhelming support. We look forward to serving the Island and continuing to give back with future donations!

Owners, Neil & Stephanie Ballard.

Commercial air duct cleaning.

Today we cleaned out the ducts of a cyclone dust collector system for a woodworking company.

The main duct was completely clogged up with dust and debris.

By the time we were done, the system was working well again and had it’s powerful suction back!

Today we had the pleasure of working the day over on Salt Spring Island!

We absolutely love the island lifestyle. Thankfully, taking the ferry over to Vesuvius from Crofton is a nice, short, 25 minute ride.

If we can make a day out of it, we are happy to travel to this beautiful island.

Furnace and air duct cleaning.

Yet another piece of photo evidence of why having your furnace and air ducts cleaned on a regular basis is so important.

This is what the inside of a furnace can look like if it has not been cleaned in a very long time….or ever!

The poor owner of this home was suffering from allergies and lots of dust in their house.

After filling up the big vacuum filter, the residents of this home can now be rest assured that nice, clean air will come out of their vents when they run their heating system!

Dryer vent cleaning.

This dryer could have only been one more load away from a fire.

It is very important to have your dryer and vent cleaned on a regular basis to avoid a potentially devastating fire.

At Clean Air Force, we ensure your dryer cleaning is completed properly. Not only do we clean out the entire vent, we also clean the lint trap and check the flex transition hose (when accessible).

Furnace and air duct cleaning.

Do you know how much dust, allergens and debris are lurking deep down in your air ducts and furnace?

Dust and debris can accumulate fairly easily over the years. When you turn your heating system on, this will be pushed into your home and in turn, you’ll be breathing it in.

We generally recommend that you have your furnace and air ducts professionally cleaned every 2 years.

Dryer vent cleaning.

Do you ever wonder why it’s important to have your dryer vent cleaned out?

This residential dryer vent definitely was due for a good cleaning.

We recommend having the vent cleaned every 2 years if you have a short run from the back of the dryer to outside. If the vent is longer, like this one (approximately 30 feet) then a yearly cleaning is recommended!

Today we had a rare Saturday afternoon off work, so we installed our new Enviro Kodiak 1700 wood insert!

We are so in love with it! Heating our home with wood is definitely our preference.

This beauty will heat up to 3000 sqft. Our home is 2600 sqft and this has been keeping the whole house nice and warm.

Chimney sweeps, Nanaimo

Today, Neil had the pleasure of cleaning this beautiful Masonry Heater. These are custom built and not too common around here.

They work by burning a full firebox at a high temperature for a couple of hours. The flue gases pass through the channels that are surrounded by the masonry facing. This absorbs most of the heat produced, rather than the heat going up the chimney, like a regular fireplace. The bricks warm up and radiate heat throughout the home.

Not only are these efficient ways of heating a home, but they are also works of art!

Chimney sweeps, Victoria

This customer had been sweeping their own chimney for several years. They now have some glazed creosote build up so regular sweeping won’t do the trick. This job is going to require deglazing using chains to knock all the hardened creosote loose from the flue tiles. If you aren't sure, use a WETT Certified chimney sweep to keep your chimney safe.

Furnace and air duct cleaning.

Today we had a customer who just bought an older home, and it was evident that the ducts had not been cleaned in years. This kind of dust build up can greatly reduce your air quality. If you’ve recently purchased a home, consider getting your air ducts cleaned so you are not breathing in the previous occupants filth.

Furnace and air duct cleaning.

Today we cleaned the duct work in a brand new build. We arrived at the same time as the moving truck, and it's a good thing we did. The ducts were filled with post construction debris. Just because a house is brand new doesn’t mean the ducts are clean. Most home builders don’t hire a duct cleaning company before they hand you the keys to your new home.

Commercial dryer vent cleaning, Victoria

Today we visited a professional hair salon to clean the dryer and vent. It’s a good thing we arrived when we did because it was completely blocked.

Many people don’t think about it, but a blocked dryer vent is not only a fire hazard. When the moisture from your dryer can’t escape the vent it can cause serious water damage to your building which can cause thousands of dollars in damage.
